First Day of School

The first day of school is traditionally about creating routines and reestablishing the classroom community. Sekolah Umum Surya Bangsa start doing many activities to strengthen and tie close family relationship among teachers, parents and students with the name called MPLS (Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah) for 3 or 4 days from 12 – 15 July 2022.

Many students and teachers in our school spent the last year communicating via screen, rather than in a school setting. For children in early grades, it has been a long time since they have experienced the structure and interaction of in-person school. For younger children, this year may be the first time ever that they have been asked to spend hours in a classroom.

The activities in MPLS are more away of doing school work or homework, but tends to have students how to be “ in happiness” with the school’s environment. Here are some of the activities the students might do during MPLS: introduce teachers and students, do a classroom or school tour, questions and answers, discuss classroom expectations, build community, classroom rules and procedures, beach ball ice breaker, student gifts, and many enjoyable activities.
